Our Founder
The Enduring Influence of Dr. Lukas Schulz
Hiley Management stands on the shoulders of its founder, Dr. Lukas Schulz (1951–2024), whose vision and values continue to guide our work every day.
Lukas was born in Zurich to a family of teachers and civil servants – people who believed in public service, quiet diligence, and the importance of community. After earning his doctorate in law from the University of Zurich, Lukas began his career advising family businesses during a period of sweeping economic change in Switzerland. His early work took him from boardrooms in Basel to family farms in Graubünden, giving him a rare perspective on the intersection of tradition and transformation.
In the late 1980s, Lukas recognised that many families, whether running a local manufacturing firm or managing international investments, faced the same challenge: navigating complexity without losing sight of what made them unique. He founded Hiley Management, determined to create a firm that would offer more than technical expertise. For Lukas, the heart of the work was always the human story behind the numbers.
Known for his quiet warmth and unwavering integrity, Lukas built relationships that lasted decades. He was as comfortable discussing cross-border tax issues as he was mediating family conversations about succession. Clients valued his ability to listen deeply, distil complexity into clarity, and offer guidance that was both rigorous and empathetic.
Lukas passed away in 2024, but his legacy is woven into the fabric of Hiley Management. We honour his memory by upholding the standards he set: independence, discretion, and a genuine commitment to the families we serve.
